✨ Huge thanks to Senator Galey for visiting our Jobs for North Carolina’s Graduates (JNCG) class at Providence Grove High School during "Take a Legislator to School Week!" Our students were inspired by Senator Galey's personal journey and truly appreciated her thoughtful answers to their many questions. Hearing that leaders come from all walks of life really resonated with them. Thank you for showing them what public service looks like up close.

Providence Grove High School conducted a “Reality Store” for 9th graders today. The Reality Store is a “Communities in Schools of Randolph County” initiative that teaches financial literacy and gives young people an idea of how difficult balancing a budget can be for families. Each student is given a hypothetical family situation, job, and monthly income. The student then goes from table to table to “purchase” housing, transportation, insurance, childcare, etc. The objective is to teach students the importance of managing finances and staying within a budget. Volunteers from our school system and community work the tables and assist the students with their financial decisions.
